Queen Elizabeth Park Disc Golf is a good spot to learn disc golf in Vancouver

By Keith and Heather Nicol

We were recently in Vancouver for the Thanksgiving long weekend and decided to check out the some disc golf courses in the city. The first course we played was the Queen Elizabeth Park (or Little Mountain course as it is sometimes also called) and it was easy to find and a great course in our opinion. It is much more open than the courses we are used to the Comox Valley so is a good course for people just starting out. It is located at the south east corner of the park where you can easily find street parking. It has 2 different tee off locations so you can play 18 holes if you like.

The course is very open for the most part

We played with friends Jill and Kim who were visiting Vancouver from Vernon.  Both Jill and Kim have just started playing disc golf so opted for the shorter octagon tee pads. We played on Thursday Oct 7 in the morning and we were surprised how busy it was. There were players on just about every hole and we let several groups play through since we were slower with our group of 4. The course has some elevation change which is nice and the trickiest hole for us was number 9 where you have to play across a pond. The distance for all of us was too far (we didn’t want the disc to end up in the water) so we played along the edge of the pond. This is a nice layout for a variety of players and we fully recommend it. For more info see: https://www.vancityuniteddgc.ca/little-mountain-qe  Click on rec 18 for the basic course map.
