Our first year in
the Comox Valley we wondered where we had moved to given that the cross country
ski season ended in mid February. That
season was the winter of 2014-15 and fast forward to the most recent season.
Yesterday we were alerted through google photos of a trip we had made exactly 6
years ago on April 8, 2015 and as you can see in the photo Heather is walking
along the boardwalk in Strathcona Park with virtually no snow to be seen. So we
decided to head up yesterday since that would be exactly 6 years later and here
is a shot from the crust skiing we did in the ponds area as well as the
outhouses at the start of the trail. The
crust skiing was very good and we were there about 10 am which seemed to be a
good time given the cool overnight temperatures. We took the path past the summer information
hut to access the snow along the ponds. Obviously there is lots of skiing left
for anyone wanting to explore.
